How to Decorate with February’s Favorite Flowers

Just because the temperature outside is still frigid and you haven’t seen the first buds of spring quite yet, there’s no reason to avoid decorating with flowers throughout your home anyway. Adding flowers to your home’s decor in the dead of winter is the fastest way to brighten any room with cheerful, natural color. While spring may not have arrived quite yet, there are still plenty of great flowers ready for display in the month of February. The floral experts at Cascade Floral Wholesale have an abundance of these varieties to share with you. Here are some great decorating tips to pass on to your winter customers.

Lilies

Several varieties of lilies are available in February, from star-gazers and alstromeria to calla lilies and casablancas. For keeping your home fresh and full of greenery throughout winter, we love peace lilies. These deep green plants with creamy white blooms add a classic richness and natural element to your indoor space. When the world outside is cold and blustery, enjoy the clean lines and fresh greenery of a peace lily.

Ranunculus

So much color and frilly petals make ranunculus a breath of fresh air in the midst of a gray winter. Choose colors that provide a charming contrast to your home’s decor (think deep purple flowers in a yellow bedroom, or soft pink blooms in a black-and-white bathroom). Since ranunculus already bring plenty of texture to the scene, placing them in a smooth white vase or a clear glass container will let their natural design shine. We love the look of a few trimmed flowers in small white teacups or other small vases placed throughout your home, especially in small spaces like guest bedrooms or an entryway.

Delphinium

The bright, natural blue found in delphinium is a great pop of color for any room. Pair with clean white vases for a fresh contrast, or a blue glass vase for monochromatic drama. Delphinium are line flowers, meaning they grow tall on stalks. This means they’re showy and bold. Place in rooms with height, or spaces that need special effects. As a table centerpiece, these beauties are tall enough to see around and under when entertaining. Near your entryway, greet guests with a lovely burst of color and style after a trek through the snow to the front door. Delphinium bring a delightful touch to any room in your home.

Hydrangea

Fluffy and frilly, these giant balls of color make outstanding statement pieces, especially in February. Along with the romance of Valentine’s Day, hydrangea add a romantic look to any setting. Their huge fluffy heads of pink, blue, green or white petals fill a space and add lacy color that will make you forget how cold it is outside. Hydrangea are especially beautiful as centerpieces on large tables. Fill a classic urn or wide bowl with as many blooms as you like to create a stunning, eye-catching design to last all month.

Magnolias

Not only are magnolias showy and beautiful, but their leaves can be used for decorating as well! Magnolia blooms are large, open faces with thick white leaves and a delicious fragrance. Their wide, waxy leaves are often deep green or reddish-brown. The thick, healthy look of these blooms and leaves are excellent for creating a mid-winter wreath. Place a gorgeous magnolia leaf wreath on your front door with just one or two flowers clustered together, or hang above your mantle, in front of a large mirror, or in a picturesque window. A sense of warmth and style will infuse your home and melt away the winter blues.

Don’t let the weather outside keep you from enjoying the beauty of flowers in your home this February! There are so many beautiful blooms ready to shine in the winter months. The floral experts at Cascade Floral Wholesale will be happy to help you select the best February flowers and show you some great ways to incorporate them into your decor. Fill your space with the natural beauty of flowers before spring even arrives!
