The Kalanchoe Plant is a type of succulent with long lasting flowers in vibrant colors. They come in white, yellow, orange, pinks and a bright purple and there are two blooming varieties, the Kalanchoe and the Calandiva series, which has double the petal count. The leaves have scalloped edges and large clusters of flowers on short stems. Although most frequently used as a house plant, Kalanchoes can make a nice annual in the garden bed or in a container garden.
Kalanchoe plant, or Kalanchoe blossfeldiana, is native to Madagascar and, as a variety of succulent, have a high tolerance of drought since it stores water in its leaves.
